The Effects on the Mast Cell after Exercise in Ginseng Extract Primed Mouse

Abstract
The present experiments ware performed in order to determine how the heavy exercise influences on the change of the mast cells(MCs) in the mouse and Ginseng extract injected mouse. 48 mice ware devided into two groups, control group and Ginseng primed group. Exhausting exercise were performed by means of a forced running in a motor driver treadmill at a speed 3.6km/hr. for 1 hr. The muscle sample were obtained from the gastrocnemius muscle and rectus femoris muscle. The muscle MCs were stained with methylene blue and observed by light microscope in x 400.
The results obtained were as follows.
I . Control group
In normal group the numbers of MCs were 30.80¡¾4.47 (Mean¡¾S.E.) in gastrocnemius muscle and 11.80¡¾1.55 (Mean¡¾S.E.) in rectusfemoris muscle.
They are round or ovoid cells and their cytoplasm is filled with granules that are metachromatic when stained with methylene blue.
In heavy exercised group, the numbers of MCs were 76.40¡¾4.81 in gastrocnemius muscle and 92.20¡¾7.75 in rectusfemoris muscle. In this group the numbers of MCs increased and all of them were degranulated.
II . Ginseng primed group.
In normal group the numbers of MCs were 22.40¡¾2.43 in gastrocnemius muscle and 37.00¡¾ 9.53 in rectusfemoris muscle. In this group, the numbers .of MCs increased relatively and all of them were degranulated.
In heavy exercised group the numbers of MCs were 15.60¡¾1.84 in gastrocnemius muscle and 31.20¡¾1.26 in rectusfemoris muscle. In this group, the numbers of MCs increased and all of them were degranulated.
